This Privacy Policy explains how Twyn ("Twyn", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using Twyn, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (or, if you sign in with GitHub, your GitHub username and public profile details).
- Profile information — anything you add to your profile: bio, skills, headline, location, what you're building, availability, and avatar.
- Content you create — messages, posts, comments, collaboration rooms, notes, tasks, and community activity.
- Usage & technical data — log data such as IP address, browser type, and interactions with the Service, used to operate and secure it.
- Payment data — if you subscribe to Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details.
How we use your information
- To provide the core Service — matching you with collaborators, messaging, communities, and rooms.
- To generate AI-powered matches and session recaps (see "AI processing" below).
- To send notifications and, if enabled, email digests and push notifications.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
AI processing
To power matching and session recaps, relevant profile and room content (for example your skills, current focus, and room chat/notes) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, for processing. We send only what's needed to produce the result. We do not sell your data.
Service providers
We share data with vendors who help us run Twyn, only as needed to provide the Service:
- Neon — database hosting.
- Vercel — application hosting and file/image storage.
- Anthropic — AI matching and recaps.
- Stripe — subscription payments.
- Resend — transactional and digest emails.
- GitHub — optional sign-in.
Your public profile is visible to anyone, including people who are not signed in. We do not make your email address public.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account from account settings on web or mobile. We remove personal account data and anonymize content retained in shared rooms, communities, or conversations so other participants do not lose their work, except where law requires different retention.
Your rights
You can access and update your information in your profile, delete your account in the Service, or contact us about access, correction, portability, objection, or deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Security
We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, hashed passwords) to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Children
Twyn is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, additional notice.
